The Furuno DP-6 is a new Narrow-Band Direct Printing (NBDP) Terminal designed to comply with the IMO carriage requirements for the GMDSS. In addition, it provides fully automatic error-free general telex communications with other maritime mobile stations as well as with any telex subscribers. The DP-6 is used with Furuno's MF/HF radiotelephones FS-1562, FS-5000, and FS-8000. Distress and safety telex communications can be exchanged on any of the distress frequencies 2174.5, 4177.5, 6268, 8376.5, 12520 and 16695 kHz in the ARQ or FEC mode.
Each ship station is assigned a unique identity number (Maritime mobile ship's identity) so that the stations concerned are clearly and unambiguously identified to each other.
The DP-6 enables full automatic frequency scanning, unattended reception and transmission of messages, automatic adjustment of 10 groups each containing 20 channels for scanning. The DP-6 provides complete word processing facilities in its Text Editor, where you may create, edit and store multiple messages for later transmission.
