RayTech RNS 6.1 has the tecchnology to help you find bigger fish, faster and smarter. In partnership with GeoEye, the world's largest provider of satellite imaging services, Raymarine can deliver to you daily or on-demand satellite images of satellite sea-surface temperature (SST) and plankton density. High in space, GeoEye satellites orbit the earth imaging the world's oceans. Using the very latest in satellite imaging technology, these satellites can very accurately measure ocean temperature and plankton density in the water column. Professional anglers and commercial fisherman alike have used this technology for years, reaping the benifits of decreased search times and fuel savings.

Now, Raymarine brings this same information in a format that's easy to access and easy to understand in in RayTech RNS 6.1. You can have the same advantage the pro's have, and find more fish the smarter way. How doe it work, you ask? This proven technology is based on two simple facts of nature:

1. Different species of fish live and thrive in different water temperatures. Being creatures of free will, they will swim to areas where the water conditions are most favorable for their survival.
2. Plankton are the base of the aquatic food chain. Plankton get eaten by little fish. Little fish are eaten by larger fish. Your fish eats other smaller fish. Your fish wants to be near a reliable source of food.

Based on these two facts, it stands to reason that if you know where tyour fish's food is, and where the water with the right temperature is located, your fish will be there, waiting for you. Come and catch it!

The SST and Planton imagery is presented in RayTech RNS 6.1 right on top of your navigational chart. Right from the start you see exactly where your boat is in relation to the prime fishing grounds, all in bold, beautiful color. Color coded SST overlays show you the water temperature in an easy to understand format. Cold water is blue, warm water is red, and temperatures in between are rendered across the full color specturm. Using your cursor and mouse the exact water temperature at any given spot can be read quickly and easily.

Find your fish by temperature... Searching for a particular kind of fish? RayTach RNS 6.1 has temperature profile built right in for all the most popular species of game fish. Simply select your fish target from the list, and watch as RayTech instantly tailors the SST chart to show you only the most fruitful fishing areas.
A fish has to eat too... Now that you know where the optimum water temps are, use RayTech RNS 6.1's Plankton overlay to see where the food is. Like the SST image, plankton density data is rendered in full color right on your navigational chart. The density can be read quickly and easily with your cursor and mouse.
Putting it all together... Using RayTech RNS 6.1's chart layering technology, we can now find the prime fishing grounds before we ever leave the dock. Simply turn on your navigation chart, then activate the plankton layer, overlaying the food source over the ocean. Finally, activate the SST layer (filtered to your desired species) on top of the plankton. The places where the plankton layer and SST layer overlap are where YOU want to be fishing.

How do I get this data sent to me?

Sign-up for a either a 12-month unlimited subscription plan. All SST and Plankton data files are sent via e-mail to your Raymarine.com Insider e-mail address. The files are automatically installeed by RayTech RNS 6.1 with a few clicks of your mouse. Raymarine currently offers SST and Plankton coverage in the following North America regions:
