Description: The Smart Radio SR162G AIS/GPS Receiver is a compact, easy to install, stand alone marine receiver that monitors the channels assigned to the Automatic Identification System or AIS. This unit also includes an integrated GPS. The SR162G radio receiver is specially built for recreational and professional marine environments for the intended use of deciphering Automatic Identification System data. The AIS system uses two VHF channels for broadcasting ship information. The SR162G is a true dual channel receiver and is able to receive AIS information on the two approved AIS channels simultaneously. The SR162G can be used with navigation computers, chart plotters and multiplexers that support connections using an RS232 serial port interface. The single serial port data stream includes position data from the GPS as well as AIS vessel traffic information. This product is not designed to be interfaced with NMEA RS422 chart plotters.
